                                                            HINKLE CHAIR COMPANY
                                                                 Care Instructions

Thank you for purchasing one of our products. Our products are not sealed for outdoor use, so we
recommend that you either seal them with a topcoat or keep them inside or under a covered porch.
Even when placed under a covered porch, we recommend you seal it just in case. Since our products
are made of wood, any moisture or dampness can cause the product to start deteriorating.
The product needs to be protected from rain and exceeding amounts of direct sunlight. Please note that
your warranty will be affected if this product is used in an unprotected environment or exposed to
elements.
Our products need the same attention as any other solid wood furniture. A monthly cleaning with any
quality household cleaner or polish will keep your furniture looking new for many years to come.
Should you have issues with the finish, such as weathering, general wear, mold, mildew, etc., or want
to refresh the look of your product, please see the following general recommendations.
To remove mold and mildew, Spray Vinegar on the furniture and let it for an hour before wiping it
off with a damp cloth. If necessary, repeat the process after the product is dry. You can also use a
magic eraser to clean off the mildew and mold. We would still recommend you use vinegar that way it
kills off the spores of the mold and mildew.
Replacing the topcoat or repainting after this procedure should reduce the probability of mold or
mildew returning for some time.
When repainting the product: Lightly scuff sand the entire product by hand with Triple 000 Steel
Wool. This process will scratch the surface, allowing the new topcoat or paint to bond. Use a tack cloth
to remove any dust left from sanding, wipe down with a suitable solvent cleaner, such as denatured
alcohol, and then use exterior latex paint.
Please refer to the paint manufacturer’s recommendation for application and drying times.
When applying a topcoat: Apply a coat of Acrylic Crystal Clear or Polyurethane (Warning: Do not
use polyurethane on white furniture as it will turn yellow). Please refer to the manufacturer’s
recommendation for application and drying times. Apply a second coat for added protection.
Sealing interlocking parts: We recommend that if you think your chair will be out in the weather, you
place some caulk around the interlocking parts to keep water from entering and causing the chair to
start rotting from the inside out. Some major places to place caulk would be where the runner
interlocks with the post, the seat slats, and the back slats.
All products come with a limited warranty, and some have weight restrictions.  For more detailed
